IRELAND
JULY 1994
I had the wonderful opportunity to go
and visit the land of my ancestors.  I
spent ten days traveling the countryside
in a rental car,
British Isle style!  That
means the steering wheel on the left
while driving on the left!
I flew into
Shannon and drove thru the
southern half of
Eire and departed out
of
Dublin.  Hitting the Ring of Kerry,
Bunratty Castle, Ennis Friary, Staigue
Fort, Tralee, Muckross Castle, Blarney
Castle, yes, I kissed it, Kinsale,
Charles Fort, played snooker in Cobh,
went to the
Rock of Cashel, partied
with Delaney Sisters, went to the home
of kings,
Tara, Knowth, Newgrange,
partied in the
Temple Bar District in
Dublin and, of course, looked for
relatives in
Rush, Ireland.
CLIFFS OF MOHER
This photo is filled with many
indications of the Ireland experience.
First you see children awaiting the
school bus.  But as you look deeper
you see a sign that reads, "All routes
this way."  Imagine such a street!
You can also see the man hand
painting the street lines.  And notice
the world famous "Dublin Doors."
Flower boxes that filled the city and
the street lamps with the
shamrock
corniche.  Also the all-important,
"Look Left" and "Look Right" signs
painted on the street for us dumb
tourists.
ROCK OF CASHEL
VIEW FROM THE ROYAL DUBLIN HOTEL
This shot was taken facing away from the
famous, "
Rock of Cashel."  This is a castle
and roundtower built circa 400 A.D.
Saint
Patrick preached here and this is the spot
where he first compared the
shamrock to the
Holy Trinity.  The ruins here are strewn
throughout the hilltop.  It is also home to
King Cormac's Chapel.  Below Mary, are
the cows and sheep who rule now.  I like to
call this picture, "Mary was a Shepherd too."
TRADITIONAL IRISH FARM
DANNY BOY
Oh Danny Boy, the pipes the pipes are calling,
From glen to glen and down the mountainside.
The summer's gone and all the roses falling,
'Tis you 'tis you must go and I must bide.
But come ye back when summer's in the meadow,
Or when the valley's hushed and white with snow.
'Tis I'll be there in sunshine or in shadow,
Oh Danny Boy, Oh Danny Boy, I love you so.
