FEBRUARY, 1987
Key West is the island of contrasts. From the
dirty old bars from yesteryear to the new resorts
from the bikers of leather to the gay pride
communty, it has something for everyone. Ernest
Hemingway still breathes on this island, even
though he shot himself. It's the southernmost
point of the U.S.A.
Believe it or not, the highlight of
the day here is the sunset.
People gather from all over the
island at Mallory Square to
watch the sunset and then
inexplicably applaud it. As if
the sun won't be there to do it
again tomorrow. The whole
square is full of street
performers and musicians. The
weirdo with the trained cats
being the most fascinating. He
gets them to jump thru rings of
fire and over my nephew,
Gabe's, head!
See the Out Of Hand Band here!
