"Produce quality products for people and they'll come back." In 1889, Mollie Austin asked her husband James if he knew of a better rug cleaner, James decided to make his own cleaner. After many versions, and Mollie's approval Austin's Carpet Cleaner was born. Cooking the formula on the kitchen stove, James sold his product out of his Pittsburgh, PA grocery store. By word of mouth, others asked for Austin's Carpet Cleaner; planting the seed for what is today a fourth generation family company that manufactures a wide variety of household and institutional cleaning products. Certainly Mollie and James would be proud of today's fourth generation of Austin's who still uphold the family motto: "Produce quality products for people and they'll come back."
