| LORING'S BAZAR 1880's Loring's Bazar in the 1880s, Washington between Central and 1st Street, Phoenix, Arizona. The view is looking west. This was called Cactus Alley and later Cactus Way. The adobe building was replaced by the Ellingson building, where the original Donofrio's Cactus Candy was. Many of the signs from this building are on display in the Wells Fargo History Museum in downtown Phoenix, between 1st and 2nd Avenues, in the Wells Fargo Plaza Building, as this was the Wells Fargo office for Phoenix at the time. One of the original adobe buildings in Phoenix, this is where the post office originally was. Note the large trees, which were mostly gone by the 1890s. Also, notice the Palace Saloon next door. And yes, he spelled "Bazaar" that way. |
