ST. CLAIR CEMETERY
What will strike you most as you stroll the grounds of the cemetery, besides the inordinate amount of children under five
buried here, is the many women buried here that are listed as "Consorts" or "Relicts."  Though consort can mean:
"A husband or wife; spouse, especially of a reigning monarch."  In most of the cases here, it is generally accepted that
these women were the unmarried partner of the men that buried them.  Not, as is commonly proscribed, that they were
the secondary partner outside of a marriage.  Consort is not to be confused with Concubine which means: "A woman
with whom a man cohabits without being married."  "Relict" simply means "Widow."
