| Andy Warhol & Andy Carnegie. Two men of diferent eras forever linked by name, city and fame. One became the foremost pop-artist of his time, the other a robber baron who became the most influential philanthropist of his time. Immigrant parents brought both of these colossal game changers to Pittsburgh where hard lessons taught them that perserverence would win the day. Carnegie brought us public libraries and colleges that would educate the hordes and Warhol used them to learn the excesses of fame and popularity. Warhol's Father labored in Carnegie's coal mines which allowed his son to attend the Carnegie Institute of Technology. Two epic personalities, two disparate ambitions, two men of a city that defines itself between their visions. |
